In this 3-day post-convention seminar, you will construct a c.1895 couture evening gown designed and taught by Jeffrey Cook of Maison Jeffrey, from an exclusive kit provided as the Convention Souvenir gift.

The costume will be specifically designed for “Lily”, an elegant 19” lady doll. Details of this wonderful artist doll will follow.

Seating is limited so register early.

Please be sure to book your hotel room to include the seminar days. Your room is available for the additional 3 days at the convention rate but must be booked for those days before the seminar begins to obtain the special hotel rate.

“Valois” Evening Cape for Lily

Create this lovely c.1896 beaded evening cape for Lily, an approximately 19” lady doll of the 1890’s. All materials to complete the cape, including embossed velvet, lining, tarlatan for interlayer, elaborate pre-beaded trim, loose beads and sequins, ribbon, thread, paper pattern and written instructions will be furnished. Students need to bring fabric and paper scissors, sewing machine [this can also be made by hand], your preferred sewing needles for hand work and beading, glass head silk pins, Frixion marking pen, mini-iron, wool press pad, sewing ruler, sewing glasses/magnifier, and task light.

Bathing Costume for Angelique

Make this Petite Etoile 1895 Bathing Costume for Angelique, sewn with cotton fabrics, and her beach slippers with cork soles. Yoked romper-styled suit trimmed with tiny ruffles and a bathing cap, trimmed with large bow. Students need to bring a basic sewing kit, fabric scissors and small sharp scissors, Frixion marking pen or chalk, 12” clear ruler, and off-white thread. Optional is a lamp, magnifiers, small iron & mat, pressing tools, and sewing machine.

CHAPEAU FOR LILY

Learn to make a 19th Century French lady’s hat to fit our elegant Lily. You will create this hat and embellish with flowers, ribbons and netting. Kit includes all materials, pattern, and written instructions.  Students need to bring a basic sewing kit, sewing gauge, thimble, sharp fabric scissors, paper scissors and milliner’s needles.

Lily must have a set of gems to match her evening gown. Learn how to string beads and crystals to make a pendant drop necklace with FireLine beading material. You will also make a gorgeous set of drop earrings using wire, crystals, beads, and bead caps. All materials are furnished. Students need to bring small wire cutters, paper scissors, a small bead mat, ruler or measuring tape, Ott light, and magnifiers (if needed).

Assemble these accessories for Lily, which include a leather Chatelaine purse that hangs from her waist belt, a brooch watch, and a wool travel blanket with a leather carrier.  To carry her travel toiletries will be a Necessaire that will be mostly completed, and you will just add final touches.  You will learn to work with leather, assembling the pieces to make this beautiful set for Lily. All materials are furnished.  You will need to bring sharp scissors, a thimble, and a basic sewing kit.

Lily’s French Poodle Bella

Meet Lily’s French Poodle Bella. Learn to needlefelt this adorable poodle with jeweled collar. This class will teach you needlefelting basics and you will create this 7×7 core wool felted French Poodle in natural off-white. All tools and materials will be furnished in a take home kit. No additional materials or supplies will be needed however students can bring small scissors, and any other adornments or embellishments you would like to add to your poodle.

Students will be making the corset cover, slip, drawers, and bustle pad for Lily. You will learn to machine sew undergarments in the 1890s style with cotton organdy, cotton lace, and closers. All materials will be furnished.
